Are you a barbecue lover who’s always dreamed of learning to smoke your own meat? Learn the tricks of the trade with the master himself, Smoke & Barrel’s BBQ expert, Chris Tuthill. Tuthill helms the smokehouse kitchen with over nine years of experience working in Texas – a state often referred to as the “birthplace of barbecue.”
Learn the ways of real pit house BBQ in true southern American style. The Pit House Cooking Class will include a background on the tradition of meat smoking and an introduction to the types of wood used. Guests will then get into the more hands-on portion of the class that involves choosing the meats and cutting and breaking them down. Learn the differences between good and bad smoke, how to control temperature, and what types of seasoning work best. Finally, the messy part! Participants will rub, slather and season their meats before ending the class with a tasting of various pre-smoked meats and a light lunch. The class ends at 1:00pm, but guests will need to return at 6:00pm to pick up their smoked meat creations to enjoy at home.
The cost of the class is HK$1,200 per person and includes a tasting of the smoked meats and a light lunch. There is a maximum of 10 guests per group (please note this is subject to change due to Government regulations). Bump up the class’ fun factor with an optional free-flow package for an additional HK$198 for two hours.
