There are several reasons why educators choose IGCSE, even in a world of other choices, because of the three key attributes that it offers Knowledge, Skills, and Reputation:
Knowledge
Contemporary curriculums encourage student inquiry, placing the student at the center of the learning process. This juxtaposes against traditional curriculum, where the teacher is the source of knowledge. Student-centered inquiry learning opens up new and exciting possibilities for learning for IGCSE’s as it is taught in the middle years. This is when kids acquire subject-specific knowledge; use their inquiry skills as well as the new and exciting knowledge that their teachers bring to their learning.
Offering over 70 subjects at IGCSE, students are exposed to a wide variety of options available to them, dependent on the child’s inclination, preparing them for university. At EtonHouse International School, students are able to take individual IGCSE subject exams either in Year 9,10 or 11. Hence, students can take their subject examinations when they are ready, giving them more time to work on other subjects. And their class size has a rich teacher-to-student ratio to ensure that your children receive more personalized academic and pastoral support.
Skills
Skills are just as vital as the knowledge, and these are strengthened with the IGCSE during the middle years. Aiding in improving the student’s performance by developing skills in creative thinking, inquiry and problem-solving as they become confident, responsible, reflective, innovative and engaged learners. At EtonHouse International School Orchard they are committed to a fluid interdisciplinary approach to education. Their boutique secondary school environment allows one subject learning objectives to flow into others and therefore ensuring that subjects are understood fully through experiential tasks.
Reputation
With a long-standing history, IGCSE has become a gold standard for learning among schools as it well understood by educators and schools delivering it. The IGCSE has been good preparation for students entering a university as it has allowed students admission to the world’s best universities — including MIT, Harvard, and Cambridge.
