We know how lucky we are – KL is full of fantastic cafes where you can grab a quick latte for your morning coffee fix, but every now and then we discover somewhere that is worthy of shouting about…loudly!
Dr.Inc (pronounced “Drink” rather that “Doctor Ink” by the way) is one of these places. Be warned it’s not all that easy to find, hence we’ve labelled it our hidden gem of a café, but once you do find it, you’ll no doubt want to keep going back. This intriguing little café can be found on the quiet street of Jalan Kemuja, just along from Fierce Curry House. The café shares space with L.Inc Design and architect firm Studio Bikin – so no wonder it’s so funky and on trend design-wise.
Everything from the artwork on the glass entrance (that changes colour every couple of months) and the beautiful items from designer Lisette Scheer’s Nala Designs, which are elegantly displayed around the café to the super stylish furniture makes this place a feast for the eyes as well as the tummy. And bonus, everything you can see is for sale!
Tuck into some unusual caffeinated beverages such as the legendary Fat Americano, an espresso with Coke; a Presso Bomb, espresso containing a scoop of made-in-Malacca ice cream or a Che Guevara, an espresso on ice served with a slice of lemon and brown sugar. The food menu is equally tantalizing with such culinary delights as Crunchy Coco Latte (Coco Pops, milk and espresso), Bouncer (billed as the cure for any hangover – roast beef, gouda and three fried eggs on toast) and Green Eggs (pesto scrambled eggs with focaccia toast).
As an added bonus, the café also hosts a number of creative workshops including silk-screening and flower arranging, plus their regular night markets are something you should check out too.
So turn on Waze and set out on an adventure to find Dr.Inc because it really is worth it even if you end up getting lost a couple of times!
It’s an ambient little haven of peace and tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle of Bangsar.
Weary moms who have just dropped their precious little ones off at school!
It has a little courtyard, which is ideal for enjoying fresh air and a cappuccino.
Opening hours: Sunday to Monday from 9am - 7pm and Tuesday to Saturday from 9am - 1am.
