Just a hop, skip and jump (or a short boat ride) away are some of Singapore’s best kept secrets – Lazarus Island. Squint your eyes a little and you could be in The Caribbean, Maldives or well, any island paradise!
Despite a dark past as a quarantine station, deportation and rehab centre, today St John's is a beautiful and family-friendly spot with holiday camps, bungalows, lagoons, a cafeteria, playing field and basketball. Pack a picnic, soak up the sun and explore the island and marine life with the kids. There are no facilities or attractions on Lazarus island (so BYO) but therein lies the appeal, it is virtually unspoiled, at least for now! Note, it is currently closed but hopes to re-open soon.
Connected by a short walkway from St. John’s Island is Lazarus Island. This peaceful, untouched, paradise is perfect for families looking for a little place to call their own. The unspoiled, white sandy beach is perfect for a lazy afternoon. Pack a picnic, explore the jungle and have a snooze under the palm trees. The best way to get there though is by chartering a private yacht to Lazarus Island. So go on now, grab the beach bags and the kids, and get ready for a gorgeous day out on the water!
