Esplanade is very excited to host Octoburst! Online- A Children’s Festival! This year Esplanade moves beyond the physical confines of their lovely ‘Durian’ to reach children of all ages and needs, be it at home, in school, or with their friends in student care centers in Singapore. Octoburst!– A Children’s Festival, if offering children a series of fun free-to-access digital programs from October 5 – 18, 2020, the programs focus on four categories: Music, Theatre, Dance, and Talk.

Hold My Hand: Hold My Hand returns as a filmed immersive table-top puppetry performance for Octoburst! 2020.

The Putu Piring Incident of Batu Bulat: This work by Adib Kosnan was created in the 2018 edition of Octoburst! to encourage empathy, active listening and compassion amongst its audience members.

Beats & Doodles: Enjoy the process of listening and doodling without the worries of finishing or “getting it right.” Snap a video of the doodle with the music running in the background, whether unfinished or finished, and tag #beatsdoodles and #octoburst2020 on Instagram.

Elastic Plastic Crew: You can learn some silly dance moves to some serious dance music made locally and played by the Elastic Plastic Crew DJ! Stretch your body and mind with us in this genre-bending session.

Have You Seen Our Childhood?: Take a trip down memory lane and enjoy Lorong Boys’ favorite childhood tunes right in the comfort of your own home!

Tabla Tales – The Tradition Continues: Father and son duo Nawaz Mirajkar and Aliraza Mirajkar returns to perform their pieces on the tabla and share their experiences and culture!

Roumon Ensemble: Catch father and son duo, Tan Chye Tiong and Aaron Tan, as they perform evergreen Chinese and Japanese classical pieces.

Kaleidoscope: An array of well-loved folk pieces that celebrate Singapore’s national heritage.

Small Talk – Arts for Young Audiences: Aims to engage educators, parents, caregivers, and anyone enthusiastic about bringing young audiences to the theatre on the not-so-small topic of diversity.
