Visiting Museum Benteng Heritage
The Pearl Of Tangerang
Founded by Mr.Udaya Halim and his friends, Museum Benteng Heritage is the first and the only Chinese descent museum in Indonesia. The location of the museum in the middle of the traditional market called Pasar Lama (Old Market) near Cisadane river. Benteng Heritage presents the history of Indonesia Chinese in Tangerang. The museum was built around 17th century and has become one of the oldest buildings in Tangerang.
Museum Benteng Heritage is a good place to know more about the Chinese people’s start in Indonesia. You will find a lot of things behind the unique life history of the Chinese as well as various artifacts from the past. You will find mah jong games, a Feng Shui compass, measuring instruments, scales, bank notes, stamps and more.

The museum provides guided tours, the tour takes approximately 45 minutes with a maximum 20 persons per trip. You are not allowed to roam inside the museum by yourselves. At the end of the tour, you will pass a small souvenir shop and make sure you take a picture with the traditional Tionghoa costumes. You can rent the costumes from the museum as well. They also offers birthday package, company lunch meeting, family lunch/dinner, pre-wedding at the museum. Visitors to the museum may also dine here at the great hall and served typical Baba food.

What Else:
Open Tuesday to Monday, from 10am to 5pm. It’s best to come in the afternoon because there is a traditional market in front of the museum.
