Craft Your Miniature House At Tai Kwun’s Open the Box: Home Sweet Home Event

This collaborative art and community project is brought to life by the talented UK-based artist duo, Abigail Conway and Lucy Hayhoe. It’s not just about making houses; it’s about creating a whole miniature cardboard town where everyone can join in the fun! Families and kids of all ages are welcome to pick a plot, buy a house, and decorate it however they like. This project is a wonderful way to explore what community and home really mean.

As you construct your house, you’ll be part of a growing “miniature town” right in Tai Kwun! You can meet your new neighbors, come up with fun street names, and work together to solve neighborhood challenges using a community radio station and mail services. Watch as your creations come together to form a lively, collaborative art installation that reflects the spirit of teamwork and creativity.

Through this hands-on experience, Tai Kwun and the artists want to help families redefine the ideas of “home” and “neighborhood”: it’s all about making connections, having fun, and discovering what it truly means to build a community together.

Design and build your dream home, and see it come to life as part of a magical, ever-changing miniature world. No pre-booking is necessary; participation is on a first-come, first-served basis, with daily quotas in place.

  • Tuesday-Friday: 2:00pm – 6:00pm
  • Saturday–Sunday 11:00am – 7:00pm (Last purchase stops 60 minutes before the closing time)
  • October 6 (closing party): 11:00am – 5:00pm, last purchase will be at 12:30 and the closing party will be from 4:00pm – 5:00pm
