Barcelona is the perfect city for an extended getaway. Situated on the northeast coast of Spain, it is blessed with a Mediterranean climate. It is the home of Gaudi and Picasso and also the mighty Barcelona FC. Whether you prefer to wander down Las Ramblas for some shopping, see the incredible Sagrada Familia, or just want to soak up some sun on Barceloneta beach, the city has something for everyone. Come this way for the Little Steps guide to everything Barcelona!
The Sagrada Familia is one of Barcelona's most iconic buildings, and it's the largest unfinished Catholic church in the world. Designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, his work on Sagrada Família is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When Gaudí passed away in 1926, around 15% of the church was completed, and the city has been continuing his work ever since. The church is truly stunning, both inside and out. We suggest a guided tour if you have teens, as the tour is very informative but can be a bit dull for the little ones. If you have younger kids, we suggest the tour of the church only and downloading the app so you can listen to the audio tour. Children under 11 have free entrance.
