A two-hour drive away from the main city center, the majestic Kuang Si Falls is worth paying a visit to. Upon arrival, you'll be able to hear the calming rush of the three-tier waterfall. You and and the little ones can even jump into the falls for a quick dip! The shallow pool might have slippery rocks however, so make sure you keep a lookout while enjoying this lush escape.

While traveling out of the main city area to visit Kuang Si Falls, make sure to also stop by the stunning Pak Ou Caves. As part of the limestone cliffs, the two caves are home to countless Buddha statues nestled within, making for a breathtaking view upon arrival for visitors.

It would be hard to miss the iconic Bamboo Bridge along the Nam Khan River. A popular tourist spot, the bridge is fully man-made and functional only during the river’s low tide, and is dismantled every high tide season before being built up again. Crossing it can prove to be nerve-wracking since it gets slightly shaky, but the feeling of crossing it is certainly unforgettable.

Luang Prabang is blessed with plenty of nature and captivating architecture, and there's no better spot to soak in a panoramic view of these than at the peak of Mount Phousi. The climb is enough to break a sweat, but yet rather easily achievable for kids too. Head there early to catch the sunrise, or during the evenings for a rewarding sunset.

Nestled at the end of the main street is a nightly affair of stalls set up, flea market style. Walk through rows of locals retailing everything from hand-crafted goods to uniquely Lao apparel, that make perfect souvenirs or additions to your home. Most prices are usually marked up for tourists, so make sure to haggle your best price possible.

Laos is rich in culture, and you won't be able to miss passing by one of the gorgeous temples during your travels there. The structures of these shrines are simply mesmerising and it is an enlightening experience to learn the history of the monks while walking around the grounds. A must-do in Luang Prabang!

For family fun while enjoying nature, head outdoors to the Green Jungle Flight and Green Jungle Park for a sense of adrenaline! If you (and your kids) can wake up at the break of dawn, then make sure to witness the traditional ceremony of the alms giving, where offerings are given to monks that walk past. Foreigners can also partake in this ceremony, by giving food items to the monks. Be mindful to maintain a respectful distance if you're merely observing however, as you wouldn't want to interrupt the procession.

To completely unwind, one of the best ways to do so is by taking a leisurely cruise along the Mekong River for a few hours. You can easily book a boat ride at any of the many tour agencies available in the main area, and spend a day cruising along in a slow boat together with the kids.
