Is the Sun World Hon Thom worth your full day, or is it just another tourist attraction? Before you book, here’s what you should know to feel confident that you’ll make the right decision for your family holiday. You’ll find plenty of fun activities here, like the world’s longest overseas cable car, Aquatopia Water Park, Kiss Of The Sea show, beautiful and calm beaches, and so much more.
To help you decide if it’s right for your trip, we’ve put together everything you need to know. From buying tickets to what you can expect inside this park, this guide will help you plan a day full of memorable moments.
The Sun World Hon Thom Cable Car is a sea-crossing cable car system linking An Thoi (the southern end of Phu Quoc Island) to Hon Thom Island, also known as Pineapple Island. The route stretches for almost 8 kilometres, making it the world’s longest overseas cable car. From the cabin, you get a quiet, elevated view of the surrounding islands and turquoise waters. We recommend combining the cable car experience with other activities at Sun World Hon Thom if you have a full day.
At Sun World, your day starts at An Thoi Station, the entrance to Sunset Town. This is where you will board the cable car ride. You can pre-book tickets online or buy them on the spot — though booking ahead often saves you time. Pro tip: Arrive 20-30 minutes early, especially during the holiday season, to avoid long queues.
Once you board your cable car, the doors will close, and the cabin will start climbing. For your safety, you ride in a fully enclosed cabin, and the staff ensure all safety measures are in place. This is a short 15-minute journey where you’ll see:
Note: The cabins accommodate up to 30 people, which may sound crowded, but not every cabin fills. Also, you can travel outside peak hours to avoid crowds and enjoy more space to take in the view from your cabin.
As your ride ends, you will enter the Sun World Hon Thom Nature Park. There’s no fixed route here, and you can go as you like. For instance, you can start your day with a visit to the beach, then head to Aquatopia Water Park, or have an early lunch before deciding how much time to spend at each activity. The signage throughout the entertainment complex helps you navigate easily. But the best part? This place is stroller- and wheelchair-friendly, which is helpful if you have kids or elderly family members.
Hon Thom Island has something for everyone. If you're after adventure, head to Aquatopia Water Park or try water sports like parasailing. Looking for something more relaxed? Take a stroll along the beach or find a quiet spot by the coastline.
Aquatopia Water Park
If you have kids, they’ll love Aquatopia Water Park. There are slides for kids of all ages, splash zones for toddlers, shaded seating, lockers, and several food options. A typical day might look like this: arrive late morning, hit a few rides, grab lunch, then wind down at the beach or rest areas in the afternoon.
Other Activities
Beyond the water park, you can relax on the beaches, snap photos from island viewpoints, or try snorkelling to explore the coral reefs. If you want more thrills, parasailing and other water sports are available too.
