A few days at the Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort was a fabulous experience for me and my two kids, Arhaan and Rheia. Situated 45 minutes from Phuket International Airport, this five-star resort offers a private beachfront and is just 12 minutes away from Phuket Town if you fancy a change of scene, with daily shuttles into Phuket Old Town and Patong and back.
We stayed in a Pool Villa, which the kids were thrilled about. We even had a floating breakfast one day, and I’m still dreaming about those truffle eggs Benedict! In addition to our own private place to splash around in, there was a terrace and outdoor shower, the former being great for some downtime and can also be used for private dinners.
Our Pool Villa was comfortably set up with a king bed, work desk, seating area, a large wardrobe, and an incredibly spacious bathroom. The room is suitable for up to four guests, and there’s a convertible sofa that's suitable for one extra person (the resort can bring in an extra bed if needed). My kids like to cuddle, so the king bed was plenty big enough for us.
The kids found it difficult to choose between our private outdoor pool and the bathtub—which, honestly, our whole family could fit into with room to spare—so they spent plenty of time in both. You can even order bath bombs for an extra fun and aromatic evening.
One of our favorite aspects of this hotel was its commitment to sustainability and fostering the marine life and ecosystems around it.
At the resort’s Baby Bamboo Shark Nursery, they care for sharks that have hatched at the Phuket Aquarium, releasing them into the sea once they’ve reached around a foot in length. They offer baby shark feeding every morning, and this was Arhaan’s favourite part of our stay. We also enjoyed learning more about these fascinating creatures from their knowledgeable staff—did you know they can “walk” along the seafloor using their pectoral fins?
The resort also offers Marine Walks during low tide. Unfortunately, these weren’t available during our visit due to tide timings, but that didn’t stop us from venturing out at 7 a.m. to explore on our own. We spotted starfish, several species of crabs, mudskippers, sea snails, and more—well worth the early start!
The kids loved being able to stand in the shallows and spot some fish at the private beach, which was characterized by its calm and beautiful waters—no need to worry about big waves sweeping them off their feet. The beach is also well maintained and clean, with lovely soft sand.
Sporty types will appreciate the free use of non-motorized water sports such as kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). They even have a clear kayak available so you can spot fish and coral beneath the waves.
Water scooters are available for rent from the pool area (at an extra charge), which both Rheia and Arhaan absolutely loved, so we rented those out a few times. With its large pool area, jacuzzi beds, and swim-up bar, the beachside pool was our favourite daytime hangout. Yoga and water fitness classes are available every morning, alongside other activities throughout the week such as beach volleyball, karaoke, table tennis, and private Muay Thai classes for an extra charge.
Suitable for kids aged 4–12 years, the Sapparot Kids Club features a play area and a kids’ pool with a water slide that’s perfect for younger children. Rheia loved joining some of the arts and crafts activities on offer, such as bracelet and keychain making. Additional activities like Thai cooking classes and pizza-making classes are also available—we tried the latter, which was such a fun experience for both myself and the kids, and the pizzas came out amazing!
The donut wall at Aqua Restaurant was, unsurprisingly, the kids’ favourite part of breakfast! They also had a coffee special every day, which, as a coffee lover, was a real treat for me. I got to indulge in not only Thai coffee, but also coconut cinnamon coffee and even orange espresso sparklers.
Edge Beach Club was perfect for lunch as we spent most of our time near the beachside pool, and I absolutely loved the vibe with upbeat music throughout. They also do a great happy hour! For those with young kids, they had puréed food options and kids’ meals available too.
Tamarind is ranked as one of the top 10 restaurants in Phuket and offers innovative Thai cuisine. It’s a beautiful, serene setting, with great food, and they even had kids’ meals, which meant I could still enjoy my meal without having to worry about what the kids would eat.
Prefer to chill back at your villa? 24/7 in-room dining is available.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay at Pullman Phuket Panwa. We stayed for three nights, and we weren’t ready to leave when the time came to head back to the airport. While the hotel is located in a quieter area of Phuket, it still wasn’t too far from many of its famous attractions, being around 30 minutes away from Andamanda Phuket Water Park.
I loved the chill vibe of the hotel, and the staff were all so warm and friendly, going out of their way to make us all feel comfortable. The sea views were truly unbeatable, and those few days were a perfect mix of activities and relaxation for both myself and the kids.
