Ice Village Tomamu: All You Need To Know Before You Go

Magical Outdoor Activity For The Whole Family

ice village tomamu

If you’re heading to Tomamu in Hokkaido this winter, don’t miss a magical evening at the Ice Village, a sparkling little town made entirely of snow and ice that appears only on winter nights.

Tucked within Hoshino Resorts Tomamu, it’s an easy 10‑minute shuttle ride from Club Med Tomamu, making it a super convenient after‑ski outing with the kids or a cosy date-night wander. Explore the glowing ice domes, sip a drink from an ice glass at the Ice Bar, peek into the dreamy Ice Hotel and glittering Ice Chapel, try skating on the open‑air ice rink, and whizz down the kid‑approved ice slide before warming up by the fireplace at the Ice Temperature Tower. There are also fun hands‑on experiences like making your own ice glass, crafting chocolate treats, browsing a tiny boutique, and even writing postcards to pop into an ice mail box to send home.

Temperatures can plunge well below freezing, so wrap up warm in your ski gear with proper snow boots, hats, and don’t forget gloves for little hands and grown‑ups alike, and bring enough yen because the village is cash only – including tickets at the entrance. Allow around 1 to 1.5 hours to explore, toast marshmallows by the fire, and soak up the fairy‑lit, frosty atmosphere before hopping back on the shuttle.
