The Repulse Bay is embracing the Chinese New Year in a unique and stylish way with its immersive programme, “In the Mood for Qipao”, running from February 1 to March 15, 2026. Inspired by the legacy of renowned writer Eileen Chang, the event weaves together fashion, culture, and dining to create a memorable celebration steeped in tradition and elegance.
Bespoke Qipao Showcase & “Chang’s Studio”
In collaboration with the renowned Shanghai tailoring studio Cheongsam Parlor, The Repulse Bay presents “A Pocket-Sized Drama: Eileen Chang’s Wardrobe”, showcasing bespoke qipao creations inspired by Chang’s portraits, personal letters, and literary works.
From March 11 to 15, guests can visit a special pop-up, “Chang’s Studio”, to experience a bespoke qipao fitting and professional photography session. Priced at HK$2,800 for two, this exclusive experience also includes a themed afternoon tea at Palm Court and access to Eileen Chang’s The Repulse Bay exhibition.
Cultural Salons and Experiences
Step back in time with a themed afternoon tea evoking the elegance of the original Repulse Bay Hotel. Priced at HK$788 (weekdays) / HK$888 (weekends) for two, the experience includes access to the Eileen Chang’s The Repulse Bay exhibition.
From February 17–19, enjoy a festive semi-buffet brunch (HK$888/adult; HK$538/child) featuring auspicious dishes. Traditional lion dance performances on February 17 add to the festive spirit.
A Photogenic Celebration
Throughout the festivities, The Repulse Bay will be adorned with hundreds of red lanterns, creating a stunning setting for photos. Whether you’re exploring heritage fashion or indulging in exquisite dining, “In the Mood for Qipao” offers an unforgettable way to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
