There are a number of international NGOs and charities which are raising funds to help the relief effort in Syria and Turkey. Syria unfortunately has been largely cut off from aid due to the current regime's control over the country. Choosing which organization to donate to is never easy, but here is a list of some which are really making a difference in the lives of survivors:

    • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian network and is accepting donations for relief in Syria and Turkey.
    • Save The Children is a dedicated charity to support the lives of children in need and has launched an emergency appeal here for victims in both countries.
    • UNICEF which mainly benefits women and children is on the ground and providing aid in Syria and Turkey.
    • MSF or Doctors Without Borders has been responding to the crisis since the very beginning providing emergency medical care in both Syria and Turkey.
    • UNHCR, the UN's arm responsible for displaced people, is on the ground in Turkey and Syria providing emergency supplies like tents and blankets. Mercy Corps is an NGO with a similar purpose, but particularly working with displaced people in Northern Syria who have been badly affected.
    • IFAW and PETA are helping rescue animals (cats, dogs, etc) affected by the earthquake too, and who have been left homeless and at risk of starvation.
