The Hong Kong Government has announced updated fixed penalties for illegal parking and 19 scheduled traffic offences, effective January 1, 2026. This adjustment, the first in 31 years, aims to enhance road safety and reduce traffic congestion by addressing the rising trend of violations.
This update follows the recent November 2025 announcement of mandatory car seat rules for children and babies, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving road safety. Drivers are encouraged to stay informed and drive responsibly.
Key Penalty Changes
Below are the adjusted fixed penalties for the 19 scheduled offences under the Fixed Penalty (Criminal Proceedings) Ordinance (Cap. 240):
