Parents who frequent Caine Road and Caine Lane playgrounds (and those simply in need of a carb fix) have a new and stylish excuse for weekend morning coffee and scones with the opening of Po’s Atelier located on Po Hing Fong Street just down the stairs from Caine Road in Sheung Wan. Enter the zinc door into a modern designed bakery complete with the sights and smells of artisan breads and pastries paired with inspiration from Scandinavia.
Who is behind this delicious new spot? Art Director, photographer, and bread fiends Vincent Cheng and Jonathan Leijonhufvud. The chef and baker, Masami Asano (one of the key figures in Japan’s bakery scene) will be leading the kitchen and baking on-site from scratch free of processing aids, artificial additives, bleach, flour improvers, stabilizers, dough conditioners, or preservatives. They are also working on gluten-free options…watch this space!
