When August comes around, you know what that means. Yup, it’s National Day once again! Grab your cameras, dress up in red and white, and get ready for the cascade of fireworks come August 9th!
Even if you don’t manage to get National Day parade tickets, don’t fret. There are plenty of other locations around the island to still marvel at the celebrations. The Promontory at Marina Bay would be an excellent place to beat the crowd and enjoy a casual dinner with the little tikes whilst waiting for the fireworks display to end off the night. The sprawling field lets you have a cozy picnic with full view of the sky before it lights up, and you can walk to the nearby landmarks of Raffles Place, Marina Bay Financial Centre, The Sail @ Marina Bay, One Raffles Quay after the firework show.

Take a stroll along Merlion Park or the Waterfront Promenade @ Esplanade – these two places offer some of the best views of a spectacular sky full of stars on August 9. If you want to dine while capturing the sights, book a reservation for spots like Tomo Izakaya or Harry’s, which has outdoor seating so you can have a vantage point. Make sure you get there early as it will definitely get crowded!

No local or tourist would be able to miss the Helix Bridge – the popular structure that connects Marina Bay Sands to the Floating Platform at Marina Bay. The elevated level lets you have a bird’s eye view of the night celebrations, with standing decks available to allow more spectators. Trust that the bridge will be super crowded on the big day, so it’s best to reserve a spot as early as possible.

Level 57 of Marina Bay Sands already offers a stunning view of the city skyline, and it’s made even better during the National Day period. The SkyPark Observation deck lets you have a panoramic vision for the full firework show, with prices starting from SG$24 per adult. To take it to the next level, you can also book a one-night stay and access the Infinity Pool at the rooftop to take in the sights with a dip.

The famous Gardens is always a hit with kids and families, so why not head down here on National Day for an optimal viewing spot of the fireworks? Keep your eyes peeled and you can even catch the fighter jets and helicopter state flag fly by! For little tots who are raring to run wild, head to Bay East Gardens where you can easily lay a picnic mat on the lawn and grab some takeaway as you await the sparks to hit the sky.

Popular with couples, families and groups of friends, Marina Barrage has an open-air area for outdoorsy fun on National Day. Grab a picnic mat and basket and head down to prepare for the explosive fireworks after sunset. For the best views, make sure you go early before the crowd arrives. It’s also pet-friendly so fur friends can join in the action!

View fireworks in the sky while being high above the city in a capsule? Sounds like a good idea. Head to the Singapore Flyer and time your ascent perfectly so that you and the kids get a full half an hour in the capsule and do not miss one second of the fireworks. While it’s not the actual National Day Parade fireworks, residents at Tampines Toa Payoh, Jurong West, Bedok and Woodlands can head down to the various stadiums for a grand firework display at night. What’s more, there will also be pre-NDP events and activities to build the hype leading to the big day.
