New Year, new beginnings! It’s the perfect time to explore some new hobbies and experiences. Here at Little Steps, we have put together a guide to some fun-filled family time in January. Whether you fancy some snow-themed crafting or a fresh way for the kids to practice their ABCs, there’s something here for everyone!
Make your own stamps from foam snowflakes and bottle caps. Activity for children aged 2-4 years old.
What you need:
Instructions:
First, grab all materials and have them ready, then pour the paint on the paper plate. Now, your child can stamp as many snowflakes as they want on the paper with the circular instruments you have found. We suggest you ask questions about what they’re going to use next and where they’re going to place the next snowflake and why.
If I lived in a snow globe… Winter writing activity with arts and crafts. Activity for children aged 6+ years old.
What you need:
Instructions:
Glue the lined paper on the bottom of the black paper. Cut out a circle from the blue paper, and glue it just above the lined paper to resemble a snow globe. Now you and your child can draw whatever you wish to be inside the globe, add glitter, add cotton for snow, whatever you please. On the lined paper, write If I lived in a snow globe… and then have your child complete it. You can both discuss what your child would do if they lived in a snow globe.
Alphabet activity for preschoolers. Activity for children aged 3+ years old.
What you need:
Instructions:
To create fake snow, you need baking soda, glitter, and a measuring cup. We suggest doing this outside or somewhere like the bathroom or kitchen, where cleanup is easier.
Grab the plastic storage box, measure 3 cups of baking soda and 1/2 cup of hair conditioner, and mix the two together. You want it to become flaky like powder snow. Now you can add in as much glitter as you like. On the gems, you can write as many letters as you please and then place them in the box of “snow.” Now you can practice finding the letters or creating words together.
