Looking for a great Early Years and Primary school program in Singapore? At GIIS SMART Campus, the IB Early Years Programme (EYP) fosters intellectual, creative and curious learners aged 3 to 6 years. As students advance to primary grades (Grades 1 to 5), the school emphasizes academic and non-academic growth, providing opportunities for learning beyond the classroom.
Prospective parents for the IB Early Years Programme and IB Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) can register here for the upcoming webinar on Saturday, October 26!
GIIS provides developmentally appropriate learning spaces that support Early Childhood students, encouraging self-paced exploration and discovery. Students engage in artistic, musical and dramatic activities, promoting symbolic expression and creative exploration through dedicated spaces like Atelier.
The IB PYP at GIIS is an inquiry-led, transdisciplinary curriculum that encourages lifelong learning. PYP students learn to take ownership of their learning, ask meaningful questions and discover answers, fostering agency and self-directed learning skills.
GIIS offers a language immersion approach for early learners where students are exposed to a linguistically rich environment. This helps students engage with multiple languages – Hindi, Tamil, Mandarin and French – before they select one to pursue further in primary school, fostering multilingual skills from an early age.
As part of the IB experience, their students host and participate in UN Day celebrations, cultural events like the Mid-Autumn festival, take part in community initiatives, host podcasts, and conduct class assemblies on topics such as children’s rights and saving endangered animals. These activities foster global awareness and social responsibility.
At GIIS, the culmination of IB PYP is marked by the PYP Exhibition for Grade 5 students. It involves independent and collaborative inquiry, where students demonstrate their understanding of the PYP elements. The entire PYP community supports the exhibition through mentorship and resources, helping students advance into the secondary school with meaningful learning experiences.
