COMO Adventure Grove is tucked away inside the 8-hectare Gallop Extension at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, and getting there is half the fun. You follow a narrow winding path through lush greenery until the playground opens up in front of you. Kids immediately start running.
The centrepiece is a hand-painted steel Banyan Tree tower with 13 aerial roots stretching outward, kitted out with climbing ropes, swings, and hammocks. Two tube slides drop from the tower at speed, one 11 metres long and one 6 metres. Dress the kids in long pants as the metal can get warm. From there, it gets more interesting. A giant jackfruit sits nearby, its bumpy surface perfect for scrambling over. Bright red Saga seeds scatter across the sandy ground, some spring-loaded for bouncing, others for balancing and rolling. Natural logs and stumps fill the gaps between structures. It’s a biophilic wonderland designed to inspire curiosity and encourage exploration.
The whole playground draws its inspiration directly from the plants and trees growing around it. The structures are modelled on real botanical species found inside the Botanic Gardens. Even the sandy ground surface and natural log stepping stones echo the forest floor just metres away. It is a playground that teaches kids about nature without them even realising it. Plus, there’s plenty of information around the playground that tells children about the various plants and seeds.
Worth noting for parents: parts of the playground are in direct sun, so mornings or late afternoons are the best time to visit. Bring sunscreen, water, and a change of clothes if the kids plan to really dig in. Since there’s so much sand, it’s also suggested to pack a bucket and a spade.
Free, open daily 7 am to 7 pm. No dogs allowed.
We love how the COMO Adventure Grove provides a modern interpretation of the timeless experience of climbing and playing in trees.
Kids aged 3 to 12 who love outdoor play, climbing, and exploring. Also brilliant for parents who want to combine playground time with a full morning out at one of Singapore's most beautiful green spaces.
There's a quiet bit of learning woven into COMO Adventure Grove that kids won't even notice. See if they can count all the Saga seeds scattered around the playground. The giant red seeds are spread across the sandy ground in clusters, and with little ones focused on counting, hopping between them, and tracking down every last one, you will buy yourself a surprisingly long stretch of time. It also doubles as a sneaky nature lesson, as the seeds are modelled on the real Saga tree seeds that you can find just a short walk away inside the gardens. Most kids have no idea they are learning anything at all.
If the kids get hungry, you can visit Fusion Spoon, a Halal-certified casual spot near Tanglin Gate that offers Western, Asian, and Japanese dishes, plus waffles and pastries.
