The world-renowned Macao International Fireworks Display Contest returns for its 33rd edition, lighting up Macao’s night sky with colour and creative flair on select evenings throughout September and October 2025. Taking place on multiple Saturdays and on China’s National Day (October 1), this spectacular event draws visitors and locals alike to celebrate with dazzling firework shows above the city’s iconic skyline. Renowned as one of the most prestigious competitions of its kind, the contest welcomes top pyrotechnic teams from across the globe, including Australia, South Africa, Korea, Austria, the Philippines, Japan, China, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and Brazil, each presenting their own breathtaking displays in a celebration of artistry and international friendship.
Spectators can enjoy the show from a variety of prime locations, such as Anim’Arte NAM VAN, Avenida de Sagres near the Mandarin Oriental, and the seafront beside the Macao Science Center, ensuring everybody gets a front-row seat to the magic. The event also engages the public through creative contests: aspiring photographers and young artists are invited to capture the enchantment by entering photo, drawing, or AI-generated art competitions, with the 2025 theme “Cultural Harmony · Fireworks in Bloom” highlighting Macao’s role as the East Asian City of Culture.
