Wetlands By The Bay Singapore: TeamLab Kayak Adventures & 600+ Mangroves For Epic Family Fun In 2028!

Singapore's New Urban Wetland Wonderland With Multi-Sensory TeamLab Magic

Wetlands by the Bay with teamlab at Gardens by the Bay In Singapore

Gardens by the Bay is set to launch its most ambitious family addition yet: Wetlands by the Bay, a 5-hectare expansion of the existing Kingfisher Wetlands precinct right beside the MRT station. Opening progressively from the end of 2028, the highlight is teamLab’s first flagship museum in Singapore—a groundbreaking multi-sensory indoor-outdoor voyage. Families will climb into custom pedal kayaks and glide through controlled waterways surrounded by responsive light projections that blend seamlessly with real freshwater wetland habitats, mangroves, and coastal plants.

Wetlands by the Bay Overview Singapore

The project triples the current mangrove collection to over 600 specimens (sourced from places like Costa Rica, Sri Lanka and Ecuador), creating a lush 50,000+ plant environment that boosts urban biodiversity and birdlife. A cantilevered canopy boardwalk will offer stroller-friendly elevated views and easy access from the MRT, while the new 3,500 sqm Glade Lawn becomes the perfect spot for picnics and community events. Refreshed waterfront dining with reservoir views rounds out the experience.

This is Singapore’s City in Nature vision in action—hands-on eco-learning wrapped in teamLab wonder. More details and phased opening updates are available on the official site: Gardens by the Bay.

Little Steps Insider Tips:

  • Pack the stroller and hop off at Gardens by the Bay MRT – the new boardwalk boasts panoramic wetland views and easy access.
  • Changing facilities and restrooms are expected in the refreshed community areas (just like the current Gardens setup).
  • Bring binoculars for bird-spotting and snacks for the Glade Lawn – it’s going to be your new go-to free(ish) outdoor adventure spot.

Why Little Steps Loves It:

It combines real nature discovery with teamLab’s magical interactivity—creating those unforgettable “we paddled through glowing wetlands!” family stories that make kids fall in love with the environment.

Who It's Perfect For:

Families with children of all ages—toddlers love the open lawns and views, while kids 5+ will be mesmerised by the kayak adventure and light installations.

What Else:

Most outdoor areas should remain free (like current Gardens spaces), with the teamLab museum likely ticketed. Pairs beautifully with a full Bay South + Bay East day out once the new bridge opens.
