Tanglin Trust School Celebrates 100 Years!
This school year, Tanglin Trust School proudly marks its 100th anniversary with a year-long series of events and celebrations. Established in 1925 by Miss Anne Griffiths Jones, with just five children on the grounds of the Tanglin Club, the school was founded to educate British children who had joined their parents in Singapore.
Today, Tanglin stands as the oldest British school in Southeast Asia, and is a vibrant co-educational school made up of 2,850 students from more than 50 countries, aged 3 to 18 years.
The Centenary celebrations began with the launch of a unique exhibition, 100 Years of Tanglin: Celebrating a Centenary of Excellence. This event, attended by more than 150 guests including alumni, parents, Foundation members, long-serving staff, and past Heads of School, showcased the school’s evolution over the years and featured captivating artifacts from the school’s archives.
As part of the Centenary festivities, The Institute at Tanglin has curated a series of talks under the theme ‘The Future of…,’ where each speaker will delve into future opportunities, trends, and the challenges faced across various industries and disciplines.
The Centenary Keynote event, scheduled for November 7, will feature Dr. Ayesha Khanna, who will explore how AI is transforming education, careers, and daily life. All the Centenary Speaker events are free and open to the public.
Looking forward, the Centenary year will also include a grand Centenary Party for the entire school community and a spectacular Centenary Concert at The Esplanade. For more details, you can explore the full calendar of Centenary events here.
As one of the few not-for-profit schools in Singapore, all fees are devoted to providing a holistic education where well-being is nurtured, talents outside of the classroom are developed and academic effort and scholarship are recognized.
Tanglin provides a unique learning environment for children from Nursery through to Sixth Form.
Tanglin is the only school in Singapore to offer the A Level and the IB Diploma, ensuring students benefit from an educational pathway best suited to them.
