The celebration was a milestone for EtonHouse as it commemorates the successful completion of the inaugural batch of the IB Diploma programme at its Orchard campus. While this is not the first batch of IB Diploma graduates for the EtonHouse group – their schools in China have had several successful IB Diploma graduates over the years – it was a momentous event for the Singapore schools.
Since opening in 2018, EtonHouse International School in Orchard has not only established itself as a successful international school with IB authorization but also celebrated its first batch of graduates receiving offers from top universities globally.
Speaking to Year 13 graduates and their parents, here are some thoughts on their journey.
One graduate, Mael says, “The EtonHouse community is one that supports each other to learn as much as possible and help each other in every endeavor they decide to undertake. I have access to teachers whenever I need them, and they have always been happy to help, even outside school hours.”
While the school doesn’t offer Sports Science as a subject, Mael’s teachers helped him find ways to study that and pursue his passion, including a maths essay. “That was one of my favorite projects because I could use maths to model the success rate of strongman athletes based on their weight and height. I look forward to studying Sports Science at university.”
Mael’s mother comments that he’s become much more confident, and his self-managing skills have improved dramatically since joining EtonHouse. “The small campus size fits the personality of our children, as it’s more nurturing and offers them more support from the teachers where they are not just a number. The teachers are always available, and we can easily check on our children’s progress with them.”
Another graduate, Riya, says she was very shy and introverted but has grown as a person and learned how to make new friends. “The teachers have helped me grow and made me who I am. They made me realize where my potential is and inspired me to become a doctor because of my love for science and helping people.”
Riya’s mother says EtonHouse has played an important role in establishing her daughter’s character. “We saw a big change in her, and she’s blossomed into a cheerful and confident lady. She has developed great communication skills and a passion for learning, and is also engaged in many different activities like study, music and sports. I’d like to thank EtonHouse for engaging my child so wonderfully.”
Another Class of 2022 graduate, Aniq, says, “The class sizes at EtonHouse were much smaller than in my previous schools, which enhanced the teacher-student relationship and made them more approachable.
Aniq’s father adds that his children have formed a very close relationship with their teachers. “I also noticed that my children now like doing homework, which is very rare. It shows that the teachers at EtonHouse have made an effort to make studying fun for them, which is very important for a student.”
Situated in the heart of the city, EtonHouse Orchard is the only international school on Orchard Road. The school's ethos is centered around strong pastoral care and emphasizes academic rigor.
Families who are looking for a highly supportive and personalised learning environment that helps their children grow and flourish in their own right.
EtonHouse International School offers the IB PYP, IGCSE and IB Diploma learning pathway to children from 18 months to 18 years across 14 campuses islandwide.
