Founded by Michelle Chow, who was inspired during her trip to the Great Barrier Reef, which eventually spurred the creation of Pass It On®, Singapore’s first plantable candle. The venture opened up opportunities for her to connect and collaborate with other local sustainable brands, leading to the debut of GREEN-HOUSE in 2022.
Since its pilot, its curated gathering of local sustainable brands, workshops, talks and out-of-the-box partnerships has continued to celebrate different facets of sustainability – all to inspire and educate attendees to live and consume sustainably. From second-hand toys to crafting their own solar-powered toys, here are some ways little ones can take their first steps into a more mindful and sustainable lifestyle at GREEN-HOUSE 2024.
Workshops not to be missed:
Play Beyond: Solar Energy & Me – A wooden helicopter workshop where children can construct, paint and take home their own solar-panelled toy. Combining solar energy education with crafting and building, this workshop offers hands-on experience to help children gain awareness of environmental issues and understand how solar energy can contribute to reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate change. 13 July, 1:30pm – 2:30pm, SG$35
Aestival Elements: Wacky Owl Fabric Weaving – A Wacky Owl Fabric Weaving Workshop that will teach children the basics of weaving, such as ‘over and under’ as well as vibrant finishes; they will get to craft their own colourful owl friend while exploring materials like fabric yarn, cardboard and felt. Suitable for ages 8 and up. 13 July, 5pm – 6pm, SG$35
Play Beyond: Homemade Fun: A Playdough Workshop – A DIY playdough workshop where children will discover the magic of creating their own playdough using simple kitchen ingredients. This eco-friendly workshop sparks imagination and creativity to foster learning by exploring basic scientific concepts like homogeneity, viscosity and colour mixing. 14 July, 1:30pm – 2:30pm, SG$20
