Children with special needs often have unique demands at home and at school. As a caregiver, it is vital to learn to successfully address them to help the child succeed. If you are a parent of a child with issues, or you have a friend who is — you know that on most days, stress and anxiety are par for the course. When it comes to the day-to-day care of children with special needs, salvation may be more about toning down the stress so one can be more capable, competent and more effective advocates for the children. Easier said than done, though, right? Few stress-relievers are as effective as hearing other people share their story or receiving support from someone who knows exactly what you’re going through.
With a mission to connect, enable and empower fellow caregivers through sharing of evidence-based knowledge and practices, and building mutually rewarding and synergistic partnerships with professional bodies, community partners and stakeholders, Care Carnival is a caregiver initiative led by parents, for parents. Held at the Enabling Village, the one-day event will feature international expert, Professor Robin McWilliam, whose sharing on routine-based intervention will provide insights on how attendees can integrate therapy into everyday routines. There will also be booths where caregivers can discover inclusive activities that can be done together as a family, such as sports, art & craft and culinary preparation, among others.
Tickets are priced at SG$10 each. Registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis here: http://bit.ly/2pltPSB
