Have you ever thought of the environmental impact of fashion? The fashion industry is one of the major polluting industries in the world. The production and distribution of the crops, fibers, and garments used in fashion all contribute to different forms of environmental pollution, including water, air, and soil pollution. You can, however, create a system which works without leaving a negative footprint. And this means thinking about what you buy, knowing which philosophies you are supporting through your purchases, and also asking yourself if you are really going to wear that new piece to the extent that it was worth being made.
To start off with great and probably the most sustainable solution because you are not only giving the pieces you get a new life, but also the ones you give away = double the save from landfill. To help make these decisions easier for you, Pasar Glamour is here to save you with its pop-up event that sells pre-loved quality clothing and accessories to encourage sustainable fashion consumption and to support the work of charitable organizations in Singapore.
Pre-loved clothing is not always in a deplorable condition. When screening donations for their sale, the team went by the mantra of “only donate something that you would still wear for yourself”. Expect to find gently worn apparel, shoes and bags, winter-wear and even new accessories and make-up. The team is run wholly by volunteers who work closely with clothing donors, many of whom are from the entertainment, media and fashion sectors. In addition, they partner with Singapore fashion designers donate brand new sample pieces or out-of-season stock for sale. Each year, net proceeds are donated to charitable organizations that support women and children from disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as the Arts. Sustainable fashion consumption + supporting charitable organizations? We love!
