Top National Day Events In Singapore

Our Singapore From Past To Present

National Day is almost here on August 9th and this year, the parade will go ahead with a centralized physical event and spectators at The Float @ Marina Bay! Themed “Together, Our Singapore Spirit”, ‘Together’ evokes our common Singapore identity and Singaporeans coming together as one united people, and ‘Our Singapore Spirit’ calls on Singaporeans to draw new strength from our “can-do” spirit amidst challenging circumstances from COVID-19 and potential disruptions in the new decade.

As we celebrate together as a nation, here are our top picks of activities this August:

1. National Day Parade (NDP) – August 9

This year’s National Day Parade (NDP) on Aug 9 will go ahead with a centralized physical event and spectators at The Float @ Marina Bay! Spectators above 12 years old who are eligible for the national vaccination program must be fully vaccinated before attending the event. They will also have to undergo pre-event COVID-19 testing. All participants have also been vaccinated against the coronavirus and are routinely tested before each rehearsal in separate groups. There will only be one preview show before the main event. Visit for updates and more information.

2. Fireworks, fireworks, and more fireworks – from your homes!

From your homes you say? In light of the recent rise in cases, it’s recommended that fireworks from Marina Bay be watched from the safety of our homes. There might be some that’ll be set off in the heartlands too, so keep a lookout for them!

3. National Day’s Celebration at Evening in the Wild @ Singapore Zoo – 6 to 8 August from 6.45pm to 10pm

Celebrate our nation’s 56th birthday and bask in good cheer with family and friends over dinner, at the zoo’s first-ever craft beer pairing night. Kickstart your journey with a guided tram ride traversing different zones that are home to some of the world’s most fascinating animals. Next, enter a secret lakeside location overlooking Upper Seletar Reservoir where you’ll enjoy up-close encounters with a few of our exotic animal friends. Here, you’ll be treated to a four-course gourmet dinner complete with dessert and a selection of craft beers in Singapore’s first tipi tent! Click here for reservations and more information. **Enjoy 10% off prevailing rates when you book before July 31, 2021!

4. GetActive! Singapore (GASG) Campaign – from July 23 to August 8

This year’s campaign to celebrate the nation’s 56th birthday will feature an exciting line-up of sports festivals, competitions, and fun activities held at the Singapore Sports Hub, selected ActiveSG centers, and community spaces. Other activities include the Start with 60 online movements to get Singaporeans to adopt a more active lifestyle. Visit the GetActive! Singapore website for more information.

5. #TOGOSG56 Challenge – from July 23 to August 15

The theme this year for this cycle and run challenge is “Go Solo, Stay United”. This National Day Celebration Challenge is a call for everyone to celebrate Singapore’s Birthday by staying active, safe, and united in spirit as a people. Choose how you want to complete this year’s Finisher Distance! Cycle or Run the entire 56km or do both in any order and in any number of sessions!
