Skeletons, ghouls and ghosts: Halloween is nearly upon us — this year the spirit-filled night falls on a Thursday — and with it, a number of strange and bizarre traditions. Halloween is a fun day that encourages kids to dress up in costumes, tell spine-tingling stories, and go from door to door collecting candy. To use an appropriate metaphor, Halloween is the Frankenstein’s monster of holidays because it is pieced together from a number of different world traditions, customs, legends, and beliefs.
