Caltex Fuel Your School Tech Jam
A.I. for Lifestyle

It is time to jam with technology! Back for its third installment, Caltex Fuel Your School Tech Jam 2019 is a program jointly organized by Science Centre Singapore and Caltex. Themed “A.I. for Lifestyle”, participants aged between 11 to 15 years old will use Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) to solve everyday problems in this year’s challenge. Using a combination of online and facilitated learning, participants will have to come up with solutions to problems such as:

1. Your Future Friend – an A.I. chatbot that detects your emotion from your speech

2. What Do I Eat? – an instrument that recognizes junk food consumption, and shares advice on eating habits

3. Zero Waste Hero – Use A.I. to develop solutions to reduce wastage

With more emphasis on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and creative thinking for the new economy, kids would benefit from getting a wider exposure to coding and tinkering, etc. STEM-based education teaches children more than science and mathematics concepts. The focus on hands-on learning with real-world applications helps develop a variety of skill sets, including creativity and 21st-century skills. The skills gained from STEM education extend beyond those needed to be successful in STEM fields, preparing children with varied interests who move into any industry to have valuable skill sets that allow them to be successful.

Admission: SG$9 (child) and SG$11 (adult)
