One of the best ways to explore Hong Kong’s country parks and historical sites is on a bike, so start peddaling!
Hop on board one of HK’s very own Hansen’s Bike Tours. Born and raised in Hong Kong, the knowledgeable Michael Hansen leads small group bike tours throughout Hong Kong. While bike paths are taken where available, rides mostly follow quiet backroads and narrow concrete village footpaths.
Easy rides that are recommended for families and day cruisers are the “Tour de Tolo” and “Cheung Chau By Bike” ride on the car-free island (the hills might be a bit of a challenge for little kids). The “Yuen Long Heritage Ride” explores the countryside with several stops along the Ping Shan Heritage Trail.
Michael makes it a truly hassle free outing. He meets riders at the MTR station or bike shop to set-up your bike (choose from hybrid mountain bikes or gearless cruiser bikes), and then you’ll be on your way in no time at all! There are stops along the way for drinks and snacks, and you have the option to go out to lunch with the group after the ride.
