
During a time where community support is so important, HandsOn Hong Kong is hosting its annual Serve-a-thon. This year, you can take part in 9 consecutive days of volunteering to provide assistance to those most impacted in your own city of Hong Kong. Special to this year will be a mixture of virtual and in-person relief programs that you can partake in.
Check out the programs that you can participate in:
Create an ‘Inspiration Jar’ for a SEN child
What: Get the family together to write short notes of blessings to be contained in an Inspiration Jar. These jars will be gifted to children with special educational needs. Find out more!
When: September 27 from 8am – 10am
Where: Make it at home with online instructions and mail it back to HandsOn.
Film a video greeting for an elderly person living in a care-home
What: Get the family together to film a 1 – 4 minute long video filled with positivity, warmth, and encouragement. The video will be shown to the resident of an elderly care home. Find out more!
When: September 19 from 12pm – 1pm
Where: Film the video at home and upload in online.
Create a sensory box for a student with intellectual disabilities
What: Get the family together to create a ‘Sensory box’ containing 6-8 sensory boards made with materials that can easily be found at home. These boxes will be sent to students with intellectual disabilities helping them explore the calming effects of sensory input and tactile touch. Find out more!
When: September 26 from 8am – 12pm
Where: Create your box at home and mail it back to HandsOn.
Make check-in phone calls to support isolated elderly
What: Make a phone call to check in on an elderly individual once a week. You’ll provide social connection and emotional support to these individuals. This one is for people aged 18 and up. Find out more!
When: September 19 from 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Where: Take the online orientation and make your calls from home.
Deliver necessities and warmth to homeless around Hong Kong
What: Build connections with the homeless community, as well as provide and distribute necessities such as food, drink, toiletries, clothing and free laundry to the members of this community. Find out more!

Where: All around Hong Kong.
