Donating For The Australian Bushfires From HK
How To Help Offer Relief For Human Life & Animals In Australia

We are all witnessing the awful devastation of the Australian bushfires, and how it has killed wildlife, scorched millions of hectares of land and killed precious wildlife. By now you must have seen the horrible stats yourself, but here is a quick recap:

- The Australian bushfires have been devastating life all over Australia since September 2019.

- The fires have taken the lives of at least 25 people, including volunteer firefighters.

- Nearly a billion animals have died, with iconic koala being hit the hardest.

- It is estimated that a third of New South Wales koalas have died and a third of their habitat has been destroyed.

- Over 7.3 million hectares have been engulfed in flames, and thousands of people have been forced to vacate their homes.

- New South Wales has been most severely ravaged, with over 1,588 homes destroyed and 650 damaged.

- Although the fires haven't reached Australia’s major cities, smoke from them has, polluting the air for millions of Australians. The PM2.5 level in Sydney was almost 400 this week, for instance. Pregnant women, children and the elderly are, particularly at risk.

Little Steps is deeply saddened by these events and we understand that seeing such horrible events can be overwhelming and can leave one helpless. But there are ways to help, so we have made a list of Hong Kong and International fundraisers and initiatives to help Australia’s bushfire victims.

Here's how you can help:

WIRES Emergency fund is rescuing and caring for as many sick, injured and orphaned native animals as possible. Donate here!

FLEX Studio is running a Fitness Fundraiser on January 19 and donating proceeds to WIRES Emergency Fund as well. Join here!

Bye Bye Plastic Bags is hosting a Vegan Potluck. Bring vegan dishes and HK$100 donation that will go towards the WIRES Emergy Fund. RSVP here!

World Wide Fund's Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund will deploy resources to care for injured wildlife and restore forest habitats once the fire clears. Donate here!

RSPCA in New South Wales is assisting at evacuation centers and helping members of the public keep their pets and livestock safe from the fire. Donate here!

Red Cross is providing practical, local support during and after emergencies. Donate here!

Fire Relief Fund for First Nations Communities is covering expenses of temporary relocation costs, basic amenity and emergency relief, refurbishment of the damaged property where applicable, replacement of vital items and resettling for First Nations communities. Donate here!

Salvation Army is supporting firefighters, emergency workers, evacuees, and communities by providing meals, bedding, care packs, and cash grants. Donate here!

While it's hard to be on the front lines, this is an effective way to help from overseas. Read more about the effects of the fires here!

Contribute to efforts that help the Australian bushfires. It will make a difference!

From now until help is no longer needed!
