Let’s face it, with so much homework and assessments, for many students in Hong Kong life is all work and no play. That’s not healthy. At the Dalton Learning Lab, they make an effort to ensure that learning is fun, creative and most important of all enjoyable for the kiddos. The Lab was set up to close the gap between formal school education and real-world needs of the future (such as digital fluency) through a series of fascinating student-centered project-based learning classes.
We’ve got the scoop on this new learning lab in Cyberport just opened this October – read on to find out more!
Dalton Learning Lab is a collaboration between technology innovator Outblaze and two co-founders of Dalton School Hong Kong (DSHK), a nonprofit, child-centred dual language primary school integrating the heritage of Chinese culture with the progressive Dalton Plan. The aim of the Lab is to supplement student education with important 21st Century skills that are not widely taught or emphasized in Hong Kong. These skills will remain useful as A.I. and robotics increasingly come to dominate society in the near future. The Lab offers after-school educational courses in a variety of Science, Technology Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) for children aged 4-13, with an emphasis on fostering divergent thinking and developing useful, future-ready skills applicable to the real world. All courses at the Dalton Learning Lab are taught by actual experts in the subject under the guidance of professional educators.

Robotics is one of the most important skills in the 21st century but it is overlooked by many schools. At the Dalton Learning Lab, they've got you covered with fun courses that teach principles of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) as students design, build and program their own robots. In the course of fulfilling their natural curiosity about robotics they will also learn skills like collaboration, problem-solving, and divergent thinking. At the end of the course, they will be comfortable programming and controlling their robots or even inventing their own machine - how cool!
