Canadian International School focuses on teaching children how to learn, rather than on placing pre-defined sets of knowledge into their inherently curious heads. Outdoor learning plays an integral part of a student’s education at CIS. No matter the age or subject, they aim to extend lessons into the outdoors whenever there is the opportunity for students to learn in a purposeful manner. Their focus on the outdoors is not something that is here or there but a daily focus.

The length and focus of their outdoor learning programmes vary depending on the age group.

* Kindergarten: Outdoor learning is inquiry and play-based and takes place in their Outdoor Discovery Centre.

* Older Grades: It involves lessons in their Outdoor Discovery Centre as well as field trips, excursion week (to different countries in the region) and Open Minds - hands-on learning experiences in settings, such as Sungei Buloh Wetlands Reserve and the Eco Garden at the Science Centre.
