Blessed as we are with a climate that lends itself to being outside, drag your little people off the sofa, away from the TV, tablets, and phones, and out to play in the great outdoors. KL has some awesome playgrounds that the whole family will love and we’ve scooped out some of the best so you can climb, swing and slide to your heart's content. Just don’t forget the hats, sunscreen, and water bottles!

Super cool shopping mall with a super cool outdoor playground, certainly one of the most unique we’ve come across. With large, funky metal stickmen forming the slide, swings and monkey bars, the playground looks more like an art installation than a place for children to burn off some energy. But looks can be deceiving and you only have to watch the excitement on the children’s faces to see that they enjoy playing here as much as the mommies and daddies enjoy it visually.

Hugely popular with tourists, expats and locals alike, KLCC Park is always busy. It’s worth a trip though as not only is the setting is stunning, situated as it is in the shadows of the iconic Petronas Towers, but there’s plenty to keep children entertained including a huge playground and a wading pool where kids can cool off. Just remember to pack a towel, swimming suits and sun screen. A little tip, avoid public holidays and the weekends as you’ll find yourself mobbed and keeping an eye on the children will prove tricky and stressful.

Lake Gardens or the Perdana Botanical Gardens Kuala Lumpur as it is officially known offers a fantastic range of children-friendly activities. There are two major playgrounds, which can only be described as children’s playground paradises with a brilliant variety of things to climb on, jump off, swing around and slide down. And should the kids get to the point where they’ve had enough, they can hop on the shuttle trams that goes around the park for a small fee.

The park at the Waterfront in Desa ParkCity is a popular hangout for families, mainly because of the fact that there are plenty of cafes and restaurants around the playground where you can grab a cup of coffee. The paths around the lake are great for cycling or going on your scooters, just watch out for the pedestrians and their pets as this park is popular with pet owners, especially dogs. The extensive playground equipment is guaranteed to keep little ones, and big ones, occupied for hours. It can get incredibly hot as there is literally zero shade, so best to head there early doors or late afternoon, but don’t forget the mozzie spray.

As well as providing an educational experience for children, KL’s Science Center is also home to an indoor play area and climbing structure just for kids. Outdoors on their grounds, there's a playground and mini water park. As you step outside the Center at the top of the hill, have a go at the giant xylophone before climbing down the steep slope using the obstacle course, or stairs if you prefer the conventional way. Head downhill and you'll find a small water park great for kids, swings, as well as exercise equipment for health enthusiasts
