Festive Family Events in HK

 

It's Mid-Autumn Festival again! Little Steps has you sorted with the rundown on this year's festive events. Get ready to enjoy this timeless Chinese celebration in a uniquely Hong Kong way with the entire family! 

1. Lee Tung Avenue: Moon Rabbit Lumiere & Celebratory Fair

The Moon Rabbit Lumiere by Australian artist Amanda Parer will be held September 19 to October 17 along Lee Tung Avenue, exhibiting giant inflatable rabbits. 

The LED Fire Dragon Fiesta will be held September 23 to September 25, 8:30pm-9: 30pm along Lee Tung Avenue. A fine opportunity to party with a 70 ft long dragon!

The Mid-Autumn Celebratory Fair takes place on September 23-25 4pm-6pm, along Lee Tung Avenue and the Central Piazza, featuring a Traditional Snacks Market, Rabbit Lanterns Workshop, and a Sugar Candies Blowing Booth. 

Finally, the Traditional Puppetry Show will be performed on September 23-25 from 4pm-6pm at the QRE Entrance and Lee Tung Avenue.

2. Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance 2018

The performance is held from 8:15pm-10:30pm on September 23-25  at Tai Hang. A recommended vantage point is Wun Sha Street. On September 24, the performance will also be held from 10:45pm-11:30pm at Victoria Park.

Transportation

Tai Hang: MTR Tin Hau Station Exit A1. Cross King’s Road and turn right. Walk straight to the junction of Causeway Road and Tung Lo Wan Road on the left to enter Tung Lo Wan Road which leads to the Tai Hang area.

Victoria Park: MTR Causeway Bay Station Exit E, walk along Great George Street to the park; or MTR Tin Hau Station Exit A2, turn left at exit and enter the park from Hing Fat Street.

 

3. Urban Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival: Victoria Park

The Carnival Night will be held 8pm-11pm on September 24.

The Youth Night is held at 7:30pm-9:30pm on September 23.

From September 21-25, 6:30pm-11pm, there will be the Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage: Exhibition on Traditional Paper Crafting.

On September 24, the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance will make its way to Victoria Park.

Lantern Displays will also be available from September 21-25, 6:30pm-11pm. On September 24, lighting-up of the displays will be extended to midnight   .

4. New Territories West Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival: Tuen Mun Park

The Carnival Night is held 7:30pm-10pm on September 25.

The Youth Night is held from 7:30pm-9:30pm on September 24.

Lantern Displays will also be available from September 21-25, 6:30pm-11pm. On September 24, lighting-up of the displays is extended to midnight  .

 

5. New Territories East Mid-Autumn Lantern Carnival: Tai Po Waterfront Park

The Carnival Night is held from 7:30pm-10pm on September 23.

The Youth Night will be held from 7:30pm-9:30pm on September 22.

Lantern Displays will also be available from September 21-25, 6:30pm-11pm. On September 24, lighting-up of the displays is extended to  midnight

 

6Interactive Lighting Installation: To the Moon

From September 15 to October 1 from 6:30pm-11pm at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza. On September 24, lighting-up of the displays is extended to  midnight
