Craving some culture?  Pack up the kiddies and head to one of Hong Kong's top Buddhist temples located in Sha Tin.  With five temples, four pavilions, one verandah and a pagoda - this day tripper is worth it!

How to get to the Ten Thousand Buddhas? The easiest way to access the 10,000 Buddhas Monastery is to head to Home Squared in Shatin.  Your adventure begins with a walk (or crawl) up 430 steps to the monastery.  Don't fret, you will have life-size golden buddhas on every step smiling, laughing, and cheering you on.

Once you reach the top, take a deep breathe and enjoy the views!   The temple on the right is absolutely marvelous - packed with tiny handmade statuettes (13,000 to be exact).  Walk around the courtyard and snap photos in front of the 9-storey pagoda (fun fact - the pagoda is also on HK$100 bank notes). Take another 69 steps toward the upper terrace and enjoy the Temple of the God of Heaven, the Candi Buddha Temple, Kwun Yam Temple and the Temple of the Nei Tor (Amita) Buddha.

Need a break?  There is a vegetarian restaurant for treats, lunch, and tea.  Make a weekend out of it and book a staycation at Hyatt Regency, Hong Kong!
