Known as the Hawaii of the East, Sanya’s clean beaches, good weather and blue skies may seem too good to be true, but it’s for real! Just over an hour flight away from Hong Kong on the southern tip of Hainan Island, it’s the perfect getaway for a long weekend this summer. To ease the stresses of traveling, here are five of the best family friendly resorts with kids clubs, activities, and games and more for your kids.
The Ritz-Carlton is one of the top choices for families travelling to Sanya. The special kids program includes supervised activities for those aged between 3-16 years old ranging from “Beat the Heat” (indoor fun at one of the most exciting play areas in Sanya), “Connection Inspection” (looking and how different species adapt to different areas) and “Eco-Explorers” (an exploration of nature through the hotel’s gardens). A designated kids pool, waterslide, outdoor park, indoor play area and secret vegetable garden are just a few of the other delights on offer. Gather the whole family for a day spent snorkeling through the bay, or explore the mangrove forests by bicycle and go Hobie Cat sailing off the coast of Hainan. Little gourmands may want to try being the next Jamie Oliver and accompany the hotel’s chef around the gardens for a special fruit and veggie tasting followed by a cooking lesson.

Tropical living at its very finest – The Mandarin Oriental is inspired by local Hainanese culture and design. With three swimming pools, 10 bars and restaurants and a decadent spa, there’s plenty for adults, but what about for the kids?
In July and August, the hotel is hosting a summer kids camp complete with games, raft building, activities and cooking classes. The camp is suitable for kids ages 4 to 12. In addition to the camp activities, the hotel has created a shallow artificial sand lagoon pool with waterslides, beach toys and pool toys and provides children’s menus in all the restaurants. Who said keeping everyone happy was hard? The kids summer camp experience costs from CNY 1,999 per night including three nights’ accommodation, round-trip transfers, room upgrade (subject to availability), breakfast and 20% discount at the spa. The package includes 2 days at the summer camp for one child and a 20% discount for additional children.

The Renaissance Sanya Resort and Spa is one of the newest hotels on the island and R-Kids is the hotel's kids club. Located in the resort garden, the kids club features both indoor and outdoor play areas catering for kids ages 4-12 (children under 3 are welcome when accompanied by a parent). There’s also a special children’s pool. The brand new play area boasts seven different entertainment zones - there are designated TV rooms, dance halls, arts and crafts areas and a quiet room for napping. Shhh…..

The Pullman is a Thai-inspired resort and spa located near the stunning Yalong Bay area. With both normal rooms and South East Asian styled pool villas available, we recommend opting for one of the latter, which also feature a private garden. The hotel is hosting a special two night Sunny Sanya package from now until November which includes complimentary activities such as fishing, a double bicycle ride for one hour, DVD rental, 20% discount at Le Spa, daily breakfast and late check-out. There’s a kids room and play area, but with so much going on, odds are they won’t want to stay inside! The two-night Sunny Sanya package costs from CNY 3,588 in a Nanyang/Myanmar pool villa.
